Tires were replaced about 20k miles ago. It’s been 5yrs, but they’re still in good condition & have a ton of tread.
Replaced spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, MAF (shortly after tires were replaced, but all still good.)
Checked compression, was perfect
Transmission rebuilt by AAMCO about 15k miles ago. Shifts perfectly.
No engine codes. Drives perfect.
Storage is pretty decent. Opted for building a bed that slides together to turn into a couch, so there’s a small closet to store things. Under bed is more storage. Over the cab is more, & above bed.
Has a hitch ball
3 keys for van
Replaced battery in the summer. Replaced alternator 2 days later. Both under warranty still.
The bad-
The van is old & has some rust holes. Frame is strong, & the rust doesn’t affect the inside of the van at all. But it’s not “aesthetic”
Ac does not work at all.
*But there is a 5000BTU portable AC that I bought last summer so I could use when at sites with shore power. Comes with the van.
didn’t finish the conversion entirely. Example- I installed a sink, but never got around to adding a faucet.
No real electrical system / AC outlets
*But there is a 500w inverter that comes with van. Plugs into cig lighter or can be hooked up to a second battery.
Summary- the build worked for me for short term camping trips, road trips, & even full time van life. It’s not pretty but it runs great & strong. Since doing this work, it has never acted up. I trust this van to drive me anywhere. I’m sure I’m forgetting stuff. Ask any question & im happy to answer.
