Hive will hold up to 30 deep Langstroth frames (frames not included). Follower board provided to adjust for growth of hive.
3/8” Bee space above and under the frames. 2-1/2” clearance between roof and inner cover allows room for a feeder. Top edge of wall is beveled to allow for easy opening of inner covers.
Two ½” x 6” entrances with landing board. Block off one entrance and use for a single hive or split the hive with the follower board and use both entrances to hold two colonies.
The roof cover is very lightweight, hinged and easy to open. Fabricated from 26 Ga. Galvalume, it is designed as a durable roof with ultimate protection from the weather and a long life. Galvalume finish reflects heat away from the hive, a big plus in our Texas summers. Ventilated with gaps between the roof and the walls to allow for air to travel up and out the side vents, helping to dispel heat. Room between the roof and inner cover to allow for insulation board if so desired.
Outer walls are constructed from 2 x 12 Yellow Pine material. More insulating value than ¾” boards normally used.
Bottom and cover boards are constructed from ¾” BCX exterior grade plywood.
Legs are splayed out to give the hive more stability making for a very stable hive. Constructed from 2 x 4 Pressure Treated lumber for long life.
Working height of hive shown is 32”. Custom heights available upon request.
